Phantom Film Festival?

YES.

The Film program at my school has a festival each year at Cocowalk's AMC theatre.
The films they show are mostly by seniors with some junior work.
Apparently, this year's festival was the best in years and I'm so glad I went.
It started off with the trailer for Marcus's B-movie spectacular "Mighty Deadly", which was the feature presentation and even had a poster in the theatre's lobby.

Completely awesome? You bet.

There were a lot of music videos, short films, anti-war statements, and the like throughout the show.

I don't know about you, but I thought the song was great <3

We were laughing our asses off during quite a few of the films, especially during David's Dance Therapy, which featured the song Digital Love by Daft Punk and showed a bunch of our teachers (and David) dancing and acting silly in front of the green screen.

I'm going to miss them.

Gabriel did a modern version of Chaucer's Pardoner's Tale with music from M.I.A. Very funny.

Misha's video C-Men was one of my favourites. It stared Marcus as CO Jones, sporting a fantastic cockney accent, and had many men dressed in white, including Branden and Kiki (who isn't exactly a man). I'm sure if you thought about it you can guess what the film was about (heres a hint: its about sperm). Very, very good.

Patches Navarro was the star of about 2-3 films. Best trained dog ever (you'd have to have had seen the film Shyitska to truly appreciate her talents, as well as Misha's fantastic acting ability- I swear, that boy has to be genius).

There were many more amazing videos and it would be impossible (or just would take a really long time) for me to describe them all, so just take my word for it.

It ended with Mighty Deadly (evil!Daniela FTW) and finally, another film by Misha called All You Need is Love with, surprise, clips from the Beatles playing the song as well as clips of classmates, people singing on Lincoln Road, and really, it just made everyone happy and sing along VERY LOUDLY. They played Digital Love again afterwards, telling everyone to dance, which we did. It was a great way to end the show.

Definitely gonna try to get my hands on a DVD of all these videos, or snag the best ones from Gabriel if I can. No one can stop me.

Moving on.

So, along with that, which was on Thursday, yesterday, which was Friday, I helped out with the Fashion Show dress rehearsals, which wasn't very exciting since most of the models, for reasons unknown, weren't changing in the fashion room like they usually do, but rather the quick change room. So we didn't get to see many people or take many photographs of the outfits, which was our job ('we' and 'our' being Laura and me).

But what we did see was pretty good.

As you know, or should know, fashion shows usually don't have normal clothing, but interesting, crazy, and some wacky things, so you can probably guess how interesting it was to be in the fashion room (which I've only actually been in a couple of times) being surrounded by people running around, finishing outfits, wearing outfits- oh, the chaos of the stress rehearsal!

I'm just disappointed that I missed Kiki, who is probably the most wanted model, being 6 ft. tall and uber pretty. She's a fantastic model.

Nancy had a line of clothes for kids, so it was very cute, very flower-child looking, and she used mostly freshman girls who were actually SMALLER THAN I AM and who actually looked like little kids. Adorable? Of course.

Erin had a very tutu thing going on with bright skirt and frills; Yarminiah's reminded Laura of a sexy superhero the way the colours were so bold and looked like spandex. We missed the men's lines, much to Laura's disappointment (she had hoped to see David in the changing room, haha). Loni's line is very renaissance like, with poofy skirts and corsets, much to Hailey's displeasure xD Poor girl could hardly breathe.

We were bored a lot since most of the action took place in the other room, and we're too short to see anybody walking since everyone was crowded around to watch.

But just wait till the actual show. Should be awesome.

P.S.: Alright well, Tio and I just got back from hanging out around Miami Beach and going to a concert. We say Babylon Circus, a group touring from France. They're described as a little bit Mano Negra, little bit Gogol Bordello, only frenchier. Tio's formula for them though is more like Gogol Bordello + No Doubt + the French. Very ska, very cool. I highly, highly suggest you check them out. They put on a great show, very energetic, quite exciting, and their music just makes you want to dance. They're fantastic live!
